Do we make the best fresh pineapple juice?
We’ve finally launched our pure pineapple juice in January 2023. Why? Because many of our stockists begged us to! Ok, begged is a strong word. It was requested many times.
It turns out, it's pretty good!
We have always used fresh pineapple juice in our "Bazinga" and "Tropic Like It's Hot" flavours, but never as a 100% pure pineapple juice. Until now.
Sourcing pineapples from Far North QLD.
Most of our fresh produce we get locally from WA farmers. Whilst we grow a huge variety of fruits & veggies here in Western Australia, sadly not everything is seasonally or readily available for us here in Perth.
We grab our pineapples from farmers in far north Queensland (FNQ). They've been cultivating sweet juicy pineapples since the 1800s. The warm sticky humid climate, healthy rainfall and fertile soil make it a pineapple-paradise.
4 reasons why it took us so long to make pure pineapple juice.
We have spent almost 12 months working on being able to produce fresh pineapple reliably.
Here’s why:
It's tough to juice.
Just juice some pineapples, hey? Not that easy. Pineapples are actually quite tough to juice. They contain complex sugar molecules which make the pineapple mulch quite thick and syrupy (similar to a mango). To cold press pineapples, we need to seperate that sweet-sweet juice away from the tough pulp.
To do that we need:
Extremely fine-holed pressing clothes.
A hydraulic press capable of sustaining immensely high pressure levels for a long period of time.
The preservation game.
Remember, the more pulp in the juice, the shorter the shelf life and we definitely want to give our stockists the best possible longevity for their products. Fresh juices already have a limited shelf-life, so nailing this part is crucial. By ensuring a thorough extraction process and minimising pulp, we can provide our stockists with a pineapple juice that stays fresh and delicious for as long as possible.
Cheers to a longer shelf life and happier stockists!
Weather woes over east.
Getting regular supply of good pineapples is a challenge! One storm, bush fire or strike can leave us pineapple-less for weeks. Oh, the pineapple supply game, it's a wild one! We made a solemn promise to our amazing customers that all of our fresh juice flavours would always be available.
Pineapples are hard work.
Each pineapple needs to be prepped for juicing. You need lots of elbow grease and a sharp knife for that thick spiky skin. However, for this flavour to be a profitable endeavour for both us, and our stockists, we needed to perfect our juicing technique and find reliable supply first!
Once each pineapple has had it's skin removed, and a haircut, it's time to cold press. This method of juicing preserves the natural flavor, nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and enzymes of the fruit, without the need for heat or additives. Our state-of-the-art hydraulic press ensures that enough juice is extracted from the pineapple, resulting in a pure, flavoursome juice that's unlike anything you've ever tasted. Some say it's the best pineapple juice they've tasted.
How to serve our fresh pineapple juice?
We have a range of customers stocking our fresh pineapple. It currently comes in our 1000ml glass bottles, making it ideal for pouring over ice for punters.
Serve as a breakfast juice over ice.
Sista's Mindarie put the pineapple juice on their specials board, and they sold 14 litres (~55 serves) over the weekend! Yes, it was summer, but it turns out people love just a glass of fresh refreshing pineapple juice.
Pro tip: add a drop of lemon juice and sprig of mint, for that extra punch!
In cocktails, and boozy concoctions.
Say goodbye to using cheap store-bought pineapple juice. A decent drink needs decent ingredients. For people who know what they're doing behind the bar know fresh pineapple juice has a noticeable fresher taste and potent flavour.
Shui bar (Subiaco), Emily Taylor's Restaurant (Fremantle) and Phat Brew Club (West Perth) all use it across their cocktail and alcoholic drinks menu. Although we can vouch that just adding some Vodka works wonders!
Use fresh pineapple juice in your smoothies!
The folks down at Rocket Fuel (Nedlands), use our pineapple juice (instead of long-life juice) as a base liquid to their smoothies, giving their blends a refreshing summery punch. Not to mention the added dose of vitamin c and other health benefits.
